Christiana’s current practise in writing and visual art is informed by an academic background in philosophy, politics, art and media. Exploring visual language and ideas through writing and printmaking, she aims to develop the ideas about aesthetics and masculinity she has explored in her academic work, in a visual arts and literary context.
Working on Truth Tellers, an inter-disciplinary collaborative project with academic Dr. Pablo de Orellana and painter Tom de Freston, she is exploring ideas about art, trauma and collective healing, using a theoretical foundation established in the book based on her doctoral thesis, The Portrayal and Punishment of Terrorists in Western Media: Playing the Villain (Palgrave, 2019).
Meanwhile, Christiana is developing related ideas about masculinity and relationships through print-making and creative writing in her own practise, exploring the visual aspect of poetry and textual analysis with traditional print-making techniques.
